With Super Bowl LVII starting just after the Small Baller Podcast comes out with a new episode on Sunday at 4 PM EST, we have the official Small Ballers Super Bowl LVII Predictions here:
Chiefs vs. Eagles at 6:30 PM EST, Line: PHI -1.5
Ben: Eagles 26-24, We’ve finally made it. The entertainment event that millions eagerly wait for each year. The most-watched television program in the United States year after year. Anyone who says that the Super Bowl is not a must-see event is just lying. How can you not be excited? You can watch Fortune 500 companies spend millions of dollars for a 30-second advertisement. Now obviously, you can expect the big boys to be at the party. Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Doritos, Tide, and many more regulars will be doing everything they can to put on a show for 100 million viewers. You can also assume that gambling companies will be out in full force considering their growing industry. Then you get to the car companies that will do everything they can to sell you their new electric vehicle for a “bargain” price of $50,000. I’m here for all of it. After taking a break last year from the madness of Super Bowl commercials (my team was playing in the game, no big deal) I am very excited to jump back into analyzing every advertisement and ultimately having the annual conversation at the water cooler Monday morning that “the commercials just aren’t what they used to be”. Regardless of the letdown that the commercials will ultimately be, it’s something that every human should be looking forward to. I will probably get in trouble with Brandon and Trevor if I don’t mention something about the teams that will be running around on the field while the commercials aren’t on, but honestly, who cares? We don’t need to mention that both teams are looking for their second title in recent memory. We don’t need to mention the fact that we have two elite quarterbacks conducting their respective offensives. We definitely don’t need to mention the whole Andy Reid against his former team narrative, or how the city of Philadelphia might burn to the ground if they can cap off one of the best seasons in franchise history with a ring. When you have companies spending most of their annual marketing budget on 30 seconds of screen time, none of the actual game matters, and who wins is irrelevant. I promise that if you ask anyone who won the Super Bowl last year, no one will remember. They definitely won’t remember how the losing team in last year’s contest had a historic run to the championship led by one of the coolest dudes to ever play the QB position. All of that will be forgotten by early Monday morning with the focus solely on how we were all captivated by Experian telling us how we can boost our FICO score.
Brandon: Chiefs 30-23, At first I was a big believer in the Eagles and I planned on picking them in this very article. After seeing what my two dear friends Trevor and Ben said I had to go the other route. On our most recent episode of The Small Baller Podcast, Trevor and I had to debate one of the teams and I was given the Chiefs. After going through that exercise, I am actually starting to believe it. Experience, the lack of Eagles playing great teams, and a man named Patrick Mahomes will put the Chiefs over the top for his second Super Bowl.
Trevor: Eagles 31-24, The Eagles have the advantage at the line of scrimmage and that is the biggest reason they are going to win. I see the Eagles' defensive line causing issues and getting pressure on Mahomes quickly. I also would feel good about a lot of the matchups the Eagles’ secondary has against the Chiefs receivers if I was a Philly fan. They can double Travis Kelce often without having to worry about others getting free for big plays. On the other side of the ball, I expect the run game to continue to be effective for the Eagles. The balanced attack the Eagles have with Hurts running the show will keep the Chiefs' defense on their toes and they will hang on despite an imminent Mahomes superhuman effort near the end.
