After weeks of themed rankings, I think it is time to bring these rankings back to normalcy. Compared to my very first post, we didn’t have nearly as many upsets yet all but six teams are moving around on my rankings this week. Saying this, here are the NFL Week 13 Power Rankings:
1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-2)
A relatively easy week for the Chiefs as they beat the Rams 26-10. The Chiefs have a solid three-game lead over their division rivals and I strongly believe in only a few short weeks they will clinch their division.
2. Buffalo Bills (8-3)
A win was expected for the Bills over the Lions in a hard-fought 28-25 game as they took a W for the second straight week at Ford Field. Josh Allen had quite a nice day with over 300 total yards and three total touchdowns. The Bills are not gonna be a fun team to play in the playoffs.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-1)
The Eagles took on the Packers at home and had a grueling seven-point victory led by Jalen Hurts 153 rushing yards. I do think the Eagles are solid but as my good friend Miles told me while writing this article, “How will the Eagles be able to perform in the playoffs”?
4. Dallas Cowboys (8-3)
The Cowboys beat the Giants 28-20 in an important divisional game. Dak is finally back to form and the Cowboys have a great two-headed running back tandem to set up the pass. I believe this team can make a lot of waves come playoffs.
5. Minnesota Vikings (9-2)
I have corrected my mistake from last week dropping down the Vikings a little bit. They took a win over the Patriots by seven but I want to talk about something different. Even though they have nine wins, the Vikings are only +5 in the plus/minus which is the worst in NFL history for a 9-2 team.
6. San Francisco 49ers (7-4)
A 13-0 win is kind of an odd one for the Niners with such a dynamic offense. The defense really flexed its muscles showing that it can perform at an elite level. With the acquisition of CMC, this team is dangerous on both sides of the ball.
7. Miami Dolphins (8-3)
At halftime, the Dolphins took a large 30-0 lead over the worst team in the NFL, the Texans. The Texans did crawl their way back a bit but not much is stopping this offensive juggernaut of Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle, and Tyreek Hill.
8. Cincinnati Bengals (7-4)
The Bengals are back! This is the Bengals team I projected at the beginning of the year to be a top team in the league. The offensive line has started to perform how they were advertised and Ja’Marr Chase isn’t even back yet! Only up from here.
9. Tennessee Titans (7-4)
After losing to the team I just placed, the Titans are in a weird spot. They are a quite good team that just isn’t a great team. I just don’t see them taking that step up to truly compete for a Super Bowl.
10. Baltimore Ravens (7-4)
Tough week to be a Ravens fan. This loss to the Jaguars showed me that the Ravens have a long way to go to compete for a Super Bowl. Similar to the Titans, this is a really good football team that isn’t a great one.
11. New England Patriots (6-5)
What a division the AFC East is this year. I have all four teams in the top 15 and two in the top 11. The Patriots are a little up and down. The offense isn’t all there but the defense is a top performer. Can this carry them to a playoff appearance?
12. New York Giants (7-4)
As we are reaching the middle of the pack, we continued with flawed teams that are not too bad. The Giants are solid at everything but not particularly great and we saw that against the Cowboys.
13. Los Angeles Chargers (6-5)
What a thrilling game the Chargers ended up winning against the Cardinals. The Chargers have had quite a disappointing year but they are slowly getting healthier at the WR position which will lead to Herbert being put in much better positions.
14. New York Jets (7-4)
The QB change seems like it was much needed. Zach Wilson needed to go and the Jets played off it. The team got behind Mike White and looks rejuvenated. I expect more success from the Jets, especially on defense.
15. Washington Commanders (7-5)
The Commanders have seemed to just figure it out. Heinicke won’t lead this team to a championship but the rest of the team has so much talent they can just hang in pretty much every single game they play in. I think we might see a late playoff team even though they were a scratch-off on The Small Baller Podcast.
16. Atlanta Falcons (5-7)
After losing to the Commanders, I have them placed right under them. An interesting team that just wins games they probably shouldn’t and has even traded some talent away somehow makes my top 20.
17. Green Bay Packers (4-8)
Is it time for Jordan Love? Just like Aaron Rodgers did earlier in his career as he took over for the great Brett Farve, is it time? I find it hard to believe he will start over Rodgers this year but I think the future is bright for the very young star.
18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-6)
Even with it being an away game, this was a really bad loss for the Bucs. The rushing attack without Fournette was shown to be quite terrible. The great Bucs defense allowed two touchdowns to wrap the game up and end up losing in OT.
19. Arizona Cardinals (4-8)
A one-point crushing loss at home against the Chargers is not where the Cardinals wanted this season to go. Maybe it is time for some amount of changes to happen in Arizona to get this team back to its early 2021 form.
20. Cleveland Browns (4-7)
It is interesting how to rank the Browns. Objectively, they have one of the worst defensive teams in the league but one of the better offenses. We saw an impressive victory over the Bucs which led to a little bump up in my rankings.
21. Chicago Bears (3-9)
Losing to an excellent Jets team without their rising star QB makes moving the Bears up in my rankings a little difficult. I am unsure what the future of this team holds as I have little trust in Ryan Poles.
22. Detroit Lions (4-7)
I still have faith in the Lions. Even at just four wins, I believe this team can turn it around. We have seen much better play as of late and this game losing by only three to the Bills shows their improvements.
23. Las Vegas Raiders (4-7)
I just can’t believe it but I am moving the Raiders up after they somehow put together an OT win vs. the struggling Seahawks. I feel like the Raiders have the potential to be way better than their record but I don’t see Carr leading this team to success.
24. Seattle Seahawks (6-5)
What a fall for the Seahawks in my rankings. Just a few short weeks ago, the Seahawks were 6-3 and I had them tenth in my rankings. Now at 24, they have had multiple straight losses and it isn’t looking great for them moving forward.
25. New Orleans Saints (4-8)
A big drop for the Saints after another embarrassing offensive performance and a 13-0 loss vs. the 49ers. So many offensive weapons yet no QB to find them the ball. I wonder if we may see a QB drafted by them next year.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-7)
What an impressive win for the Jags over my Ravens. Trevor Lawrence and Zay Jones looked incredibly impressive in this game and it seems like the Jags might be a bit underrated. Looking to forward seasons if they can get a couple more weapons, this will not be a team to mess with.
27. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-7)
Beating the Colts by seven isn’t necessarily the best achievement but nevertheless, I will give them a little bump up. Najee Harris is finally hitting last year's form and the team is doing marginally better.
28. Los Angeles Rams (3-8)
Without Stafford and Kupp, the Rams have no direction. Aaron Donald is primed to miss their next game and after a bad loss to the Chiefs, we can safely say the Rams’ season is over.
29. Carolina Panthers (4-8)
The Panthers have a truly bad team and I think everyone, including the Panthers, knows this. Saying that, they have shown they are not the worst! Beating a struggling Broncos moved them up a bit to 29.
30. Denver Broncos (3-8)
There isn’t much to say for the Broncos. This season has been such a disappointment after such high expectations and this past week was no different. This was a truly horrible loss and then the news came out that only half the team came to Russ’ birthday party. Rough week for the QB.
31. Indianapolis Colts (4-7-1)
Somehow the Colts are second in their division but are one of my worst teams in the rankings. Jeff Saturday proved in their 24-17 loss to the Steelers why he shouldn’t have been hired in the first place.
32. Houston Texans (1-9-1)
It was a very rough first half vs. the Dolphins. Obviously, Tua came out but the second half showed at least a little bit of promise in the Texans. Bryce Young or bust I guess right?
